The Swiss Juniors leave it all in El Salvador
The 2026 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in Surf City El Salvador has come to an end for the Swiss Surfing Junior Team. Over the past week, our young athletes have been taking on some of the best junior surfers in the world across the powerful waves of La Bocana and El Sunzal. With surfers from 56 nations and more than 400 athletes on site.
Switzerland's junior national Surf Team looks back at the World Junior Surfing Championship 2026 in El Salvador, marking another step in the development of the country's next generation of surfers.
Ten athletes represented Switzerland at the event: Kilian Rosskopf, Massimo Bienz, Sue Gartmann, Loghann Tilsley, Marshanda Nikijuluw, Ella Aebi, Matias Banto, Khai Tanguay, Reef Johnson and Zoë Hauser. Across the competition, the team faced a wide range of conditions and strong international opposition, with each surfer progressing through their heats from the opening rounds to the elimination stages.
A learning experience.
The championship brought a mix of results for the Swiss team — strong performances alongside heats that proved more difficult. The event was another valuable opportunity for growth, noting that the experience gained in El Salvador will continue to benefit the athletes' development going forward.

Next Up: Eurosurf Juniors in Ireland
With the World Championship now behind them, the Swiss junior Surf Team is already turning its attention to the next challenge. The squad will compete at the Eurosurf Juniors in Ireland at the end of September, facing some of Europe's top junior surfers.
The experience and motivation gained in El Salvador will travel with the team into this next competition, as preparations resume ahead of the trip to Ireland.
